Industry Survey – More Vineyards Needed
A recently-released survey of the Maryland wine and grape
industry reveals a need for additional fruit. Wineries grow
a majority of the fruit produced in MD – nearly 250
acres – while 23 independent commercial growers
tend to 120 acres of grapes. Every commercial grape grown
in Maryland is sold, and Maryland wineries report a vast shortfall
of grapes. The message, "we need more grapes." View
the survey results.
