The Maryland Wine Festival® Annual Poster Contest

CARROLL COUNTY FARM MUSEUM ANNOUNCES THE
2008 MARYLAND WINE FESTIVAL (25th Anniversary)
DESIGN COMPETITION
$1,000 PRIZE TO WINNING ARTIST

When January rolls around, artists from all over the state gear up for the annual design competition for The Maryland Wine Festival® Poster. Each year artists are invited to enter their designs for this contest. Beginning in 2003, the Poster Design Competition was opened to Maryland residents only.

Last year, almost 70 entries were received from all over the state. The winning artist(s) will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and their design will be reproduced on posters, t-shirts, brochures, and various other promotional materials for The 2008 Maryland Wine Festival. All entries must be received in early March due to the time needed for reproducing the design on the many different materials. A winning design and five Honorable Mentions will be chosen from the designs submitted by a qualified panel of judges.

The 25th Anniversary of The Maryland Wine Festival® will be held on Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 21, from Noon – 6 p.m., at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster, Maryland.
Any two-dimensional media may be used to design the poster, including painting, drawing, collage, photography, computer-generated design, etc. Artists must be 21 years of age or older and a Maryland resident to enter. Some of the previous winning designs can be viewed on the Farm Museum’s web site: www.carrollcountyfarmmuseum.org or on The Maryland Wine Festival® site.

The Farm Museum must receive all entries by 3 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008. Interested artists and designers may contact the Farm Museum at 410-386-3880 to receive a copy of the official design requirements and
entry form.

The Farm Museum office is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Artists
may also send a self-addressed #10 envelope to the Carroll County Farm Museum at 500 South Center Street, Westminster, MD 21157 to receive entry materials.
